Rhenus Midi Data Strengthens High-Tech Network with a New Base in Dortmund

Rhenus Midi Data is continuing to expand its specialist distribution network for sensitive and high-quality high-tech products: the company began operations at a logistics and technology terminal measuring about 3,000 squares metres in Dortmund at the end of October. The facility is located within the existing Rhenus logistics centre in Dortmund, which measures 125,000 square metres. Rhenus Midi Data provides technical installation and transport services there as the high-tech specialist within the Rhenus Group.

“In addition to integrating the new facility within our own distribution network, which will make it even more concentrated, the close links with the Rhenus Group logistics centre there will provide access to more space for our wide-ranging technical services,” says Michael Boos, Managing Director of Rhenus Midi Data GmbH. “Our pre-assembly and pre-installation services and our field services in particular will benefit from the ideal conditions available at the new logistics terminal.”

Its location very close to the eastern end of the Ruhr area with links to the A1, A2 motorways, the A45 Sauerland highway and the B236 main road provides ideal conditions for efficient distribution services. “The premises that have just been taken over meet the highest technical standards – and it goes without saying that they include security, as our customers in this sector expect,” Michael Boos underlines. We’ve set up separate technology areas that we need to provide careful and safe handling for high-tech products,” says Michael Boos, quoting just one example.

The new facility in Westphalia also strengthens the TecDis European distribution network, which is managed by Rhenus. Dortmund will assume an important additional connecting function within this scheme.

Rhenus Midi Data was integrated within the Rhenus corporate group as a specialist services provider as a result of the takeover of the continental European business activities of the Wincanton Group at the beginning of this year. The high-tech logistics specialist, which is part of the Rhenus Contract Logistics business area, has already expanded its capacity by moving into a new and larger terminal in Stuttgart-Weilimdorf and has enhanced its international operations by opening new business centres in Hungary, Poland and Romania.
