The test procedure carried out by the Northern branch of the Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV Nord) covered all the processes connected to storing and picking medical products and all the work in the area of packaging and secondary packing. By awarding the certificate, TÜV has confirmed that the pharmaceutical quality assurance system used by Rhenus in Velten is of a very high quality.
“As a result of this certification, we would like to offer our customers even more comprehensive services in line with the highest quality standards, as the requirements for all those involved along the value added chain for medical products are rising all the time,” Christiane Schütz explains; she works in the business development of health care logistics department at Rhenus.
The pharmaceutical quality assurance system at Rhenus in Velten is not only based on the requirements involved in ISO 13485, but also on the Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines used to ensure the quality of production processes for medical products. “Following the successful audit in Velten, we are now planning for the gradual introduction of ISO 13485 at other Rhenus Contract Logistics branches,” says Christiane Schütz. The Rhenus branch at Tilburg in the Netherlands was the first business location within the Group to obtain ISO 13485 certification.
