Rhenus UK launches Rhenus Fresh

Rhenus UK has recently unveiled a dedicated perishables division in the UK under the brand name Rhenus Fresh.

Operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and always adhering to cold chain rules and procedures, the specialised department is providing time-critical and temperature-controlled services for chilled and frozen produce transportation.

The opening follows the launch of Rhenus Fresh departments in Norway and the Netherlands.

Specialists in perishable cargo handling

Rhenus Fresh, with over 35 years of expertise in handling perishable cargo, has been a trusted provider of ocean and air freight imports and exports since 1985.

Maintaining the cold chain without interruption

Handling a wide array of perishables, including flowers and food, with a specialist emphasis on fish transportation, Rhenus Fresh will source airfreight capacity with airlines across UK airports to guarantee that shipments are expedited on a first-flight-out basis. The highly trained Rhenus Fresh team is committed to maintaining the cold chain without interruption, ensuring our customers’ fresh products receive the utmost care around the clock.

Delivering to the highest standards

“Our new UK service is based on tried and tested operations, in a move designed to give our customers confidence that we can deliver to the highest standards. With chilled and frozen storage, temperature-controlled handling and transportation they can be assured that Rhenus delivers the consistency in temperatures required to maintain product integrity and quality at every point of the supply chain,” said George Mead, the new Head of Fresh in the UK.

Mead further highlighted that the dedicated fresh operation will grant customers access to Rhenus' expertise in customs inspection processes, including first point of entry formalities and veterinary inspections.

Bolstering capabilities

As part of its expansion, Rhenus has appointed Paresh Bhatia as the UK Fresh Operations Manager, further bolstering its capabilities in the region.

Spencer Davern, Managing Director of Rhenus Air & Ocean, concluded: "The launch of Rhenus Fresh in the UK complements our other regulatory, time critical and security sensitive verticals such as Life Sciences and Healthcare as well as Full Vehicle Logistics and forms a part of our growth strategy to increase our air freight volumes significantly over the coming years.”
