All areas of the Brenner Group and its branches in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland will then become part of the Rhenus Group at the turn of the year. The Brenner Group will continue to operate as an independent entity. The companies being taken over by Rhenus include Brenner Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Brenner Holding-Verwaltungs-GmbH, Brenner Internationale Holz- und Spänehandelsgesellschaft mbH, Brenner-Industrieholz-Späne GmbH and Brenner-Schweiz GmbH.
“Through the acquisition of Brenner, we’re firstly providing an even broader geographical base for our customers. But secondly, we’re tapping into new markets for transporting, purchasing and selling wood,” Sascha Hähnke, a member of the Road management team in the Rhenus Port Logistics business area, explains. “Brenner has not only gained a good name for itself in the paper and wood-based materials industries, for example, but also in the energy and insulation materials sector. Brenner’s specialist vehicle fleet for handling waste, industrial and recycling wood and biomass will complement Rhenus’ existing range of services in the wood logistics sector after the takeover.
