Rhenus takes over Nellen & Quack Logistik

The Rhenus Group is taking over the partnership shares in the Lower Rhine freight forwarding company, Nellen & Quack Logistik, which has its headquarters in Mönchengladbach, on 1 January 2019. The acquisition still has to be approved by the monopolies authorities. Rhenus is strengthening its presence and performance capability to and from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a result of this acquisition.

Rhenus is taking over the complete freight forwarding business with all the company’s employees, customers and assets in Mönchengladbach. The major focuses of the services provided by Nellen & Quack Logistik not only include warehouse logistics, but particularly domestic and international groupage freight, as well as transporting part and complete loads. The freight forwarding company, which is being acquired, has a handling centre measuring 7,500 square metres and is equipped with 96 gates – as well as having 15,800 square metres of other logistics space at its business site in Mönchengladbach.

“In the light of rising volumes of traffic, infrastructure problems and increasing traffic jams as a result, it’s important for the Rhenus Group to expand its current network for the benefit of its customers. We’ll therefore be able to respond to customer needs more flexibly, for example, and be a reliable partner in North Rhine-Westphalia for cooperation arrangements and other freight forwarding companies,” said Thilo Streck, Managing Director of Rhenus Freight Logistics.

“By selling Nellen & Quack Logistik to the Rhenus Group, we’re offering our employees a long-term perspective. It was important for us to safeguard a sustainable succession arrangement to continue the company’s operations,” said Heiner Hoffmann, a previous Managing Director of Nellen & Quack Logistik.

“As a shareholder in CargoLine, we’ve been involved in developing a break bulk cargo cooperation scheme for many years and are personally and passionately committed to this. It was therefore very important for us to find a sensible solution for CargoLine too. We’ve been able to achieve this by having Rhenus as a future shareholder in CargoLine,” Heiner Hoffmann emphasised.

Both Heiner Hoffmann and Anita Breit will remain in place as managing directors for the Rhenus Group, even after the takeover.
