The Top Employer certification is based on a comprehensive survey covering 20 areas, including strategy and personnel management, working environment, talent acquisition, career development and training, as well as working with corporate values and sustainability. David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, states: "Extraordinary times bring out the best in people and organizations. That's exactly what we've witnessed this year in our Top Employers 2024 certification program: exceptional performances by certified Top Employers. These employers consistently demonstrate that the development and well-being of their employees are of utmost importance."
Focus on People-Driven Talent Development
One of the Rhenus Group’s strategic goals is to become the "Employer of Choice" for logistics industry professionals. The Top Employer award underscores the company's commitment to a positive workplace and the attraction, development, and retention of talent. Rhenus emphasises flat hierarchies, short decision-making processes, and a familial work environment as essential components of its corporate culture.
Successes and Recognition Across Various Countries
The Top Employer award particularly highlights the Rhenus Group’s outstanding achievements in the categories of leadership, career development, and integration of corporate and personnel strategy, which often exceed the market average in industry comparisons.
The following countries stood out in this year’s Top Employer certification specifically for exemplifying Rhenus values in their daily business:
- Italy has made the Top Employer certification for the first time with the Air & Ocean division as well as an additional seal for Overland. This is the second award in a row for the Overland division showcasing an impressive nine percent improvement in the career development category.
- Spain particularly excelled in the areas of career development, leadership, and working with values. Committing to these Rhenus values led to Spain scoring more than ten percent above the market average in the national comparison of top employers in the logistics industry.
- United Kingdom also enters the Top Employer-certified companies for the first time for both Road Freight and Air & Ocean divisions by receiving above-average ratings in the areas of corporate strategy, leadership, employee listening, organisation, and change management.
Dr. Joana Baetz, Chief Human Resources Officer of the Rhenus Group, emphasises: "Without good alignment between our business and personnel strategy, the company would never achieve such great results. Our goal at Rhenus is to attract and, above all, retain high-potential employees. The certification will help us in this regard and simultaneously shows that we are on the right path to creating a fantastic work and development environment for our employees."
Outlook and Commitment to the Future
Rhenus reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and aims to obtain certification in additional countries to establish the standard for employer excellence on a broader scale and become a Top Employer in Europe and other countries. Tobias König, Chief Commercial Officer of the Rhenus Group, emphasises, "Long-term, we want to focus on sharing best practices among our countries and intelligently leveraging them. We aim to be a major driver in the global logistics industry to ensure economic performance and sustainable social progress in a dynamic world."
