All the German business centres operated by the high-tech logistics specialist, Rhenus Midi Data, have been certified as AEOs (Authorised Economic Operator) since 14 May 2013. The AEO status awarded to Rhenus Midi Data by the main customs office in Darmstadt acknowledges the special degrees of reliability and trustworthiness at Rhenus Midi Data. Rhenus Midi Data has obtained the AEO certificate for simplified customs procedures and security. Authorised Economic Operator status is part of the European Union’s security concept and is based on the “Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade” (SAFE) published by the World Customs Organisation. The AEO certificate is currently recognised by the member countries in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Japan and the USA.
“The certificate confirms our high security standards when mapping supply chains and our internal control mechanisms, which are continually being improved,” Michael Boos, Managing Director of Rhenus Midi Data, explains. The AEO certificate has gained in importance in this sector. “Because of the increasing degree of globalisation and the changes in the international security situation, the status of an Authorised Economic Operator now plays an important role for many companies,” Michael Boos confirms.
Authorised Economic Operator status does not have any time restrictions and companies based in the European Union have been able to apply for it since 1 January 2008.
