The equipment was delivered to two sites in Tilburg within a timeframe of three months and required tight planning to ensure that the equipment was not only handed over on time but also so that Rhenus staff could be trained.
The decision to make the investment despite the difficult global situation in 2020 was made on the basis of a thorough analysis of the internal transport fleet as part of the continuous improvement program at Rhenus Contract Logistics in the Netherlands. This showed that modernising and extensively expanding the fleet could lead to considerable savings in costs and productivity.
“It is important to us that we use the great progress that manufacturers of order picking equipment have made in the areas of ergonomics, energy consumption, battery and fleet management to the benefit of our customers,” explains Alphons van Erven, Senior Vice President of Rhenus Contract Logistics Netherlands.
A business case led to the selection of the manufacturers Still and Toyota, with whom Rhenus Netherlands already has a long-standing business relationship. "In our ongoing drive for operational improvements, the purchase of this equipment will increase productivity, energy efficiency and employee satisfaction,” says Alphons van Erven.
