Within the newly structured Rhenus organisation, Markus Sandbrink is now responsible for the Group’s entire IT landscape and implementing the logistics company’s digital strategy. “With more than 25 years of experience in managing IT departments and developing programmes at multi-national organisations, Markus Sandbrink can look back on significant success stories in introducing large and complex IT projects,” says Tobias Bartz, the CEO of the Rhenus Group.
Markus Sandbrink, who will report directly to Tobias Bartz in his new position, will press ahead with coordinating the Rhenus IT landscape across the Group. Because Rhenus operates around the globe, it is constantly confronted by different IT systems and extremely diverse requirements. Markus Sandbrink will therefore focus on ensuring that customers’ IT systems have no problems in accessing the Rhenus IT platforms thanks to the flexible interfaces that are in place.
Since 2020, Markus Sandbrink has been working for Rhenus. He has most recently been Head of Corporate IT, which is the Rhenus Group’s central IT services provider. He will retain this position as the new CIO Group IT. Before joining Rhenus, the graduate IT business expert held positions as an IT specialist, IT consultant and IT project manager at IBM Germany GmbH, took on various management positions at DHL Express and was Head of IT Europe at Panalpina / DSV, among other things.
Markus Sandbrink has already defined the main priority for his work in his new position. “We’ll continue to standardise our IT systems landscape in order to be able to serve our customers in an even better way with our entire portfolio of products.” The clear focus here will involve having supply chains with a high degree of digitalisation based on secure IT platforms and innovative technologies.
