Port services – Tailored solutions for streamlined transportation processes

Efficient port operations are crucial for smooth cargo movements across waterways. Services including transshipment, pre-carriage, on-carriage as well as customs clearance represent only a selection of the port services that support this process.

Freight handling for further transportation

Whether moving from ship to road or rail, ports act as crucial points for multimodal transshipment. The infrastructure and superstructure of our seaport and inland port facilities ensure seamless supply chain coordination. Cranes and conveyor systems support rapid and precise cargo handling for port operations. Regardless of the transport method used for your goods, multimodal handling provides a logical mix of transport operations to deliver the best possible solutions.

Your goods undergo scanning during transshipment both upon arrival and prior to departure. Any irregularities or damage are documented through photographic records, offering transparent verification of damage. Thanks to EDI interfaces, data is transferred digitally and entirely automatically, allowing you to stay updated at all times with consistently high data accuracy and strong operational performance. When loading for road transport, the truck is weighed automatically on calibrated and verified scales. This not only reduces handling time, but the quick and error-free registration of license plate details also enables automatic generation of the weighing document.

Safe and cost-effective storage solutions

Port logistics services cover a range of services connected to storage and cargo handling. Rhenus inland and seaport locations give you the option to store your goods in open and covered terminal areas for all types of bulk and general cargo. This approach is both cost-effective and efficient, while allowing direct onward transportation via multiple transport modes. To ensure the highest level of protection for your goods in open storage, our warehouses comply with the standards of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).

Indoor warehouses are especially appropriate for sensitive goods, high-value goods or dangerous goods as they shield them from external conditions. In addition to storing goods, the Rhenus Group offers additional services within indoor warehouses. These include value-added activities such as palletizing, packaging, order picking and sorting. Select warehouses also offer monitoring of temperature levels and regulation of humidity, making temperature-controlled storage possible.
