Press Release
  • On October 22 the ceremonial launch of the AutoStore system took place at the Rhenus branch in Bolesławiec, marking the symbolic culmination of an intensive implementation process and a significant milestone in the company’s development in Poland.
  • The AutoStore installation in Bolesławiec is one of the largest investments of its kind in Poland and the second-largest within the Rhenus Group.
  • This dedicated e-commerce solution occupies 4 500 sqm of warehouse space and can store 1.8 million product units handled by over 100 autonomous robots.
  • The implementation of AutoStore strengthens the 57.000-square-metre logistics centre’s position as one of the most technologically advanced warehouse facilities in the country.
  • The investment is a significant step in the development of modern technologies of Rhenus Warehousing Solutions in Europe and is a response to the dynamically growing needs of the e-commerce market.

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions has officially launched one of the largest AutoStore systems in Poland and the second-largest within the entire Rhenus Group at its facility in Bolesławiec. This investment forms part of Rhenus' wider automation strategy across Europe and demonstrates the company's continued commitment to investing in technology that enhances operational excellence and customer experience.

From an ambitious project to a successful implementation

The AutoStore facility in Bolesławiec occupies 4 500 sqm of warehouse space, and its operational efficiency is ensured by over 100 autonomous robots moving through a grid-like system that holds nearly 140.000 bins, in which 1.8 million pieces of products are stored. The AutoStore achieves impressive throughput of more than 38.000 container presentations per day.

Works on the the AutoStore project began at the end of 2025 and included a series of tests and conceptual activities that helped determine the final design of the installation. Once the decision to select a system integrator was made, the implementation phase began. Element Logic, the AutoStore partner and a leader in automated warehouse solutions in Poland, was responsible for implementing the system. The implementation took 8 months and involved several key stages - from the manufacturing phase, through the installation of the system in the warehouse, to testing and adapting the WMS to the new solution. The most spectacular moment of the entire process was the installation, which took place from March to July this year. It was then that the project took on a tangible form, and the warehouse space gradually transformed into a modern, automated system.

“Implementation of the AutoStore system at our own facility in Bolesławiec marks another milestone in the development of the operations in Poland. Today we are embarking on a new phase, based on automation and advanced technologies. Thanks to the AutoStore, we are gaining a solution that ensures high operational efficiency and the ability to further development of modern warehouse logistics,” emphasizes Paweł Nowak, Country Manager, Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Poland.

The success of this project also results from the experience the Rhenus team has gained during previous implementations of the AutoStore system at the company’s European locations. Since launching its first installation in the Netherlands in 2018, Rhenus has consistently developed its expertise in managing automated warehousing and order-picking systems.

“The launch of the AutoStore system in Bolesławiec was a project that required close cooperation and engagement from the implementation teams. From the very beginning, we carried out the project as a partnership, combining our technological expertise with Rhenus’s logistics expertise. We are very pleased with how the collaboration went and with the results of this dynamic implementation – comments Anna Wiśniewska, Managing Director Poland, Element Logic.”

Technology that is shaping the future of logistics

The automation of warehouse processes is becoming an increasingly important element of modern logistics - not only strengthening operational efficiency and competitiveness, but also enabling companies to respond more effectively to evolving market conditions and growing customer expectations.

The key advantages of the automated AutoStore solution include faster and more accurate order picking, very high product storage density, and improved process scalability. A notable example of improved process efficiency is the fact that, even though the solution has only just been launched, the system is already delivering impressive results - tripling the efficiency of the processes being carried out. The Bolesławiec installation also utilizes the largest bins available for the AutoStore system, further maximizing the potential of automation by enabling the efficient storage and handling of a wide product range, including larger items.

"Our customers expect speed, flexibility and scalability. The AutoStore enables us to meet these expectations while creating a future-ready logistics operation that can continue to grow alongside our customers' businesses." - comments Ronny Sassen, CEO Rhenus Contract Logistics.

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions is focusing on the automation of warehouse processes, which is becoming one of the key areas of development in modern logistics. ‘With this investment, Rhenus further strengthens its position as a leading provider of highly automated warehousing solutions in Europe and creates a scalable platform to support future customer growth” – summarizes Ronny Sassen, CEO Rhenus Contract Logistics.
