The road surcharge is an additional fee applied to transport services carried out on roads subject to mandatory electronic toll collection and on concession-based toll motorways. It is added to transport rates to account for the costs associated with the use of road infrastructure.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Infrastructure published in the Journal of Laws on January 13, 2026, a mandatory increase of nearly 40% in eTOLL system charges has been introduced. At the same time, the network of roads subject to electronic toll collection was expanded by an additional 645 km.
As a result, starting from February 1, 2026, the road surcharge will be:
- 21.96% for domestic distribution
- 4.92% for international distribution
The value of the road surcharge is added to the base transport rate.
Rhenus Freight Logistics reserves the right to modify the method of calculating the surcharge, update its amount in the event of an increase in the number of toll roads or an increase in the costs of their use.
What influences the surcharge amount?
The level of the road surcharge also depends on the geography of shipments carried out within the domestic and international road network of Rhenus Freight Logistics. This means that the type and length of routes on which services are provided affect the final surcharge amount.
Detailed information regarding road usage costs can be found on the website of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).
