The hospital logistics company was partially incorporated into the Rhenus Group in the form of a shareholding in 2003. The remaining shareholdings in Rhenus eonova, which until recently were still held by D & P-Beteiligungsgesellschaft, have now been fully transferred to Rhenus. This expansion strengthens the Rhenus business in the health care market and now allows it to implement its corporate goals without having to take into account outside business interests.
“The takeover is an expression of our growing commitment within the health care sector. It enables us to press ahead with the ongoing optimization of our supply chain management services, as we now have exclusive responsibility for a key player in the market place,” says Dr. Stephan Peters, Member of the Rhenus Board, commenting on the motives behind the development. “As a result of this investment, Rhenus is improving its competitive position and it will be possible to coordinate individual customer requirements in a more efficient manner.”
Rhenus eonova is the market leader in hospital logistics in Germany and operates a national transportation network for medical products and medical technology. The transportation of specific goods right into hospital wards or to operating theaters is just as much part of the company’s spectrum of services as delivering medication and therapeutic appliances to patients’ apartments.
“We have made a name for ourselves in the pharmaceutical and health care business sectors at the Rhenus Group and develop solutions directed at meeting the requirements of well-known customers. As a result of fully integrating Rhenus eonova and its products within the Rhenus world, we are enabling our partners in the health sector to fully concentrate on their strengths in treating and caring for people. In return, we provide the transportation and warehouse services needed for this in the background,” says Dr. Stephan Peters, explaining the distribution of tasks between the logistics services provider and its customers.
