The planned block storage facility will provide approx. 15,000 square meters of storage and transshipment space and have 14 gates. The sheds at Bingen I and II are due to be connected to each other by a covered forklift passageway. The Bingen logistics center mainly serves customers in the consumer goods sector, including producers of wine, sparkling wine and spirits.
“The demand from our customers for free warehouse storage space has continued to grow during the last few years. By having a second logistics warehouse, we can significantly reduce our transport operations to other warehouse centers in the region and therefore cut carbon dioxide emissions in the long term,” says Bernd Markmann, a member of the Rhenus Contract Logistics management team. The Bingen II facility will be equipped with modern security features – including video monitoring, burglar alarms and a fire sprinkling system.
The Rhenus logistics center in Bingen is located on real estate measuring 80,000 square meters and has excellent transportation links, as it is very close to the A 61 freeway. Bingen I and II will provide more than 57,500 square meters of warehouse space in the future, including 10,000 square meters of shed space for storing substances in water hazard class 2. Approx. 70 new jobs and training places for careers in commerce and in warehouses have been created at Bingen I since 2008.
