    Who we are

    Our experience and expertise with horses and zoo animals make us your reliable partner for animal customs clearance. Well-trained staff with many years of experience in this field are available to provide you with advice and assistance. Your pet is in the best hands with us – whether for training, education, vacation, competition, free pasture access, purchase, or sale. We prepare everything, including the ATA Carnet form, so you and your animal don't have to wait long at the border. Our offices are located on both sides of the Basel/Weil Autobahn border customs office.

    Import into Switzerland

    Import definitely

    If you definitely want to import a horse, we will need the following documents from you, among others, which we must present to customs:

    • A written order, which you send to us by email to pferdeverzollung[at]ch.rhenus.com .
    • The purchase contract (signed) or the invoice.
    • A transfer / bank receipt or payment method.
    • Horse data as shown on the horse passport: name, year of birth, gender, passport/transponder number. You must carry the original horse passport with you when crossing the border.
    • The horse’s health certificate, stamped by the responsible official veterinarian, must be present when crossing the border.

    Export from Switzerland

    Export definitely

    If you are definitely exporting a horse, you must be able to present the following documents to customs, otherwise you will not be able to export the horse:

    • A written order and a power of attorney, which you send to us by email to pferdeverzollung[at]ch.rhenus.com .
    • The horse’s health certificate, stamped by the responsible official veterinarian.
    • The horse's sales invoice with the seller's signature.
    • The signal element of the horse passport.
    • You must carry the original horse passport with you when crossing the border.

    Check-in with free pass

    To process your application with a free pass, we require the following documents/information from you:

    • Invitation from the organizer with horse name
    • Horse data and signal element from the horse passport
    • Indication of market value
    • Address of the rider and the stable
    • For professional riders the EORI number
    • Registration number of the vehicle and trailer

    Clearance with ATA Carnet

    For horses in free circulation in Switzerland

    You would like to go with your horse…

    … should your horse recover in a pasture?

    We will create a Swiss Carnet ATA for you.

    Travel with an ATA Carnet is possible at any time (day/night/weekend via staffed customs offices). Required documents:

    • ATA Carnet
    • Horse passport
    • Veterinary certificate
