INTRODUCING OUR NEW SEA-AIR CARGO SERVICE

The Pacific Bridge sees weekly LCL and FCL containers departing by sea freight from China to USA and then to Latin America. Cargo arrives in Los Angeles, where it is transported by road to Miami and then reaches its final destination via air freight.

Maximizing efficiency

  • An alternative that’s profitable and efficient to help the market advance during times of crisis
  • Mitigate delays at origins with airport and port backups when moving larger volumes
  • Increased operational proficiency of the CFS through gradual introduction of the cargo to meet predetermined departure deadlines

AN ALTERNATIVE SHIPPING ROUTE FROM CHINA TO LATIN AMERICA

Asia is one of the strongest bi-lateral partners of LATAM, followed by the EU and the USA. Especially pharmaceutical and medical supplies as well as electronic components from China and other asian countries are purchased by countries in LATAM.

Different ocean shipping routes compared in terms of cost and time

It is important to guarantee a smooth and cost-efficient shipment between the continents. To do so, Rhenus now offers a special sea-air service, the Pacific Bridge. The mix of modalities enables Rhenus to decrease the freight costs significantly and provide additional frequencies of freight forwarding from China to the Americas.

The route from China to Latin America can be broken down into three parts: First, ocean freight shipping from China to the U.S. West Coast. The crossing of the Pacific Ocean takes no longer than 15 days in total. After arriving in Los Angeles, the goods are transported by truck across the U.S. to Miami, as the airport there serves as a central air freight hub to South America. From Miami, existing air cargo flights can be used to transport the shipments to their final destination within Latin America.
