Difficult to describe in three words, let’s say: NEVER A DULL MOMENT.

My career started in 1983 and I can still remember the last question of the job interview back then: What do you wish to achieve within 10 years?

Without hesitation my answer was that within 10 years I wanted to be the financial manager of the company. What I didn’t know, however, was that the person doing the interview, was the financial manager at the time. Apparently my enthusiasm made an impression because I got the job.

I gradually continued to grow and the job became more interesting and varied. My network increased and I became involved in daily management and taking decisions. And, yes, I became the financial manager.

This to show that getting the opportunity, as well as taking advantage of it and being surrounded by capable people, makes the job at Rhenus special and gives you satisfaction.

The biggest challenge that was successfully managed to date was the creation of a shared service centre. Through the various acquisitions during the past years, we had a mixture of people, each with their own working method, systems and corporate cultures. This was also a mindset for management. Needless to say, this was not easy and took time, but as the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day and we work on it every single day. 

Looking back on all those years at Rhenus, I cannot say that I have ever been bored; it is an exciting challenge every day and I try to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
