Job Description
What you can expect
We are looking for experienced professionals from transport engineering, surveying, or port captain backgrounds to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. The role involves international projects in the Ruhr region and the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam, and includes project-based travel. You will work hands-on on challenging heavy lift and project cargo operations with unit weights of up to 2,000 tons.
The role includes surveying cargo, transport routes, transshipment points, and ports to ensure feasibility and safety.
Acting as Port Captain or Cargo Representative during vessel calls is an integral part of the position.
You will coordinate and supervise loading, unloading, and securing operations in close cooperation with all parties involved.
You will be responsible for the technical planning, evaluation, and supervision of heavy transport and project cargo operations.
Depending on experience and interest, the role may also include contributing to feasibility studies, method statements, transport concepts, and risk assessments, as well as supporting technical coordination with relevant stakeholders.
What you bring
You have proven experience in handling project cargo, heavy lift, or oversized cargo operations.
Your professional background may include transport engineering, marine operations or port captain roles, or surveying and heavy cargo handling.
A solid practical understanding of port operations as well as sea and road transport is essential for this role.
Willingness to travel depending on project phases and vessel schedules, combined with a structured and solution-oriented working style, is expected.
You have a good command of English, German is an advantage, and experience with CAD systems (2D/3D) is considered a plus.
