What you can expect
The Account Manager facilitates the realization of the agreed logistics services for multiple customers, enables operational management to establish a profitable organization within the contractual agreements and site standards. Striving to exceed customer expectation and building a relationship within the customer’s organization that is based on value. Ideally this person becomes a strategic partner and advisor to the client(s), discovering opportunities to work together. This position will develop strategies in conjunction with sales, marketing, and operations to further develop the Rhenus brand in the marketplace.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Foster strategic partnerships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive business growth.
- Develop and execute comprehensive account strategies, delivering regular performance updates to key stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
- Manage client relationships through structured performance reviews, contract renewals, and expansion planning.
- Serve as the voice of the customer within Rhenus while maintaining balanced stakeholder relationships.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring adherence to service level agreements.
- Own customer-level P&L performance and develop action plans to achieve financial targets.
- Lead new customer implementations and expansion initiatives across multiple locations.
- Design innovative solutions that exceed client expectations and enhance market position.
- Establish and maintain best practices and service standards across client operations.
- Champion Rhenus values while fostering an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
- Mentor and develop team members to drive professional growth and operational excellence.
- Coordinate with global teams to ensure seamless service delivery and knowledge sharing.
What you bring
Education & Work Experience Requirements / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Proven track record of 5+ years driving national sales growth and exceeding revenue targets in logistics or 3PL environments
- Demonstrated expertise in market analysis and strategic business development within the 3PL industry
- Experience leading and motivating high-performing sales teams to achieve exceptional results
- Advanced proficiency in CRM platforms and business intelligence tools
- Strong analytical capabilities with proven success in developing data-driven sales strategies
- Exceptional negotiation skills with experience in complex, enterprise-level contracts
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain C-level relationships
- Track record of identifying and capitalizing on emerging market opportunities
- Domestic and some regional travel required
- Adaptable to emerging technologies and industry trends.
Working Conditions:
- Work Hours: Standard work week is 40 hours; however, additional and/or extended hours may be required based on business needs. Monthly in office hours to be determined in accordance with Director of Operations and/or when requested.
- Work Environment: Primarily desk-based with the use of a computer.
- Physical Demands: Duties will predominantly involve the use of IT tools, necessitating prolonged periods of sitting and working in front of a computer screen.
- Hybrid Work Eligibility: This role is eligible for hybrid work arrangements.
