Are you a strategic leader with a passion for transport, systems, and people?
At Rhenus Warehousing Solutions, we are looking for a skilled and driven Manager Transport to head up our transport department. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, including Carrier Managers, Implementation Manager, Transport Engineer, -Analyst, and Transport coordinators, each supporting our operations to seamless, efficient, and future-ready transport operations.
As Manager Transport, reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for translating customer and business needs into clear tactical and operational strategies.
You ensure reliable and cost-effective transport execution by aligning process design, system configuration and carrier management. You do this from a supporting view towards our business and collaborate intensely with different sites and their management. With a strong focus on strategy, data and performance, you’ll use KPIs and reporting to drive improvements and steer your team toward excellence. You’ll also play a central role in cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that Transport is fully integrated with departments like IT, Business Development, Account Management, Customer Service, Finance, and Logistics Solutions.
You are confident in guiding both people and processes. Whether it’s supporting a carrier negotiation, refining a transport model, or resolving a system issue, you combine strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving. You serve as a coach, a coordinator, and a connector, always working with both customer satisfaction and operational performance in mind.
What you bring
Education: Higher professional education (HBO+) in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
Experience: 7–10 years of relevant experience in transport or logistics, including at least 3 years in a managerial role
Expertise:
- Vast knowledge and understanding of various transport modes and industry segments
- Strong knowledge of transport management systems (TMS/WMS/ERP)
- Data-driven working with tools like Power BI and Excel
- Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional leadershipLanguages: Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
Competencies:
- Strong communication skills in commercial as well as operational fields
- Leadership – to inspire, develop, and align your team by managing priorities and coordinate transport matters effectively
- Analytical / pragmatical Ability – to steer decisions through facts & data insights
- Result Orientation – to deliver measurable, outcome-driven results and improvements
