What you can expect
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Strategy and Volume Development
- Manage the procurement team to ensure a high-performance environment with a high degree of ownership, accountability, and transparency.
- Maximize profitability for Rhenus through lower rates, adherence to regional policies to secure regional/global incentives from carriers/co-loaders, etc.
- Strong collaboration with the commercial head to align product and commercial strategy through regular meetings, pipeline reviews, support for tenders, analysis of lost business due to procurement, etc.
- Support the commercial teams by visiting key customers and supporting sales team in coming up with a solution
- Doing market analysis such as rate trends, port situation, space/equipment issues, etc., and proposing strategy to Sales
- Regular and detailed analysis of volumes, define tradelane development strategy together with Sales, analyze monthly volume development trend, etc.
- Implement and align with regional product strategies such as core co-loader adherence, core carrier policy, etc.
Vendor Relationship Development
- Build and maintain relationships with all the vendors especially core carriers and co-loaders, preferred carriers, and their decision makers locally.
- Organize regular business reviews with core vendors.
- Establish a contact matrix for all vendors at all tier levels.
- Monitor vendor’s performance and follow proper escalation process.
- Resolve major issues with the vendors escalated by the department heads.
- Ensure no disruption in operations which can impact commercial relationships with the client or result in a service failure.
FCL Tariff, Rates and Contract Management
- Rate and contract negotiation with vendors for tenders, key accounts or big volumes
- Ensure tariff are always updated and available with proper validity in place to the pricing / network support teams.
- Ensure proper vendor contracts and relevant documents such as SLA, Credit Terms, NDA, etc are in place before we start a business with them.
Product Development Branding and Training
- Coordinate with Marketing team to provide customer & sales-oriented marketing material (flyers. Brochures, presentations) which improves marketing awareness and competitiveness of our sales team.
- Create user-oriented product training together with commercial teams to enhance sales & operations’ knowledge of Rhenus product and systems.
What you bring
WHAT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING TO US
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Freight forwarding industry, with solid background in ocean freight operations or procurement role.
- Thorough understanding ocean freight market drivers
- Passion for service delivery and cost-effectiveness – and for identifying how to constantly improve
- Costumer Focused - able to anticipate and identify customers’ needs and expectations
- High degree of ownership
- Ability to balance operational priorities with commercial imperatives
- Effective change agent with the ability to adjust change approach based on circumstances
- Proactive and capable of handle responsibility without needing to be micromanaged
- Outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
- Able to communicate well in English both spoken and written.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Able to work under pressure.
- Strategic and innovative mindset
- Be results driven and is persistent in meeting day to day challenges and goals.
- Can multi-task in an intense, fast-paced, high-energy, environment.
- Demonstrate confidence as a performer and lead by example.
- Willingness to travel
- Minimum 5 years of experience in people management and leadership, including recruitment, training & development, coaching, conflict, and performance management.
