CFNR Transport SAS is changing its business operating name to Rhenus PartnerShip France SAS with effect from 23 March 2023. The official brand will be known as Rhenus PartnerShip (RSP) France. The change of name is an important step in the Rhenus Group’s development strategy with a view to its inland waterway shipping logistics and handling operations at French inland waterway ports.

The Rhenus Group has been providing inland waterway logistics operations in France through various companies since 1973. Rhenus consolidated its position by taking over the inland waterway shipping charter activities of CFNR SA under the CFNR Transport brand in 2015; this firm has branches in Uckange/Thionville, Kehl/Strasbourg and Dunkirk. The company has continued to develop since that time: a new branch was set up in Sens in 2016 and the firm has been working as a port permit holder and operator at the ports along the river Moselle since 2019. CFNR Transport took a holding in the capital of the SEMOP operating company at the Rhine port of Colmar/Neuf-Brisach in 2021. The volume of Rhenus inland waterway shipping and port logistics operations in France amounted to 8 million tonnes in 2022 – five million of them involving transportation and three million transhipment.

Thanks to the new name, France is joining the ranks of the Rhenus Group’s European network of inland waterway shipping activities, which are now combined under the Rhenus PartnerShip brand.

“The goal of the Rhenus Group is to consolidate the existing synergies within all its European subsidiaries involved in inland waterway shipping and handling operations at inland waterway ports. Thanks to the geographical location of the European waterway network and the constantly increasing integration among the RSP companies, we’re able to continually adapt our logistics portfolio for general cargo and bulk commodities to our customers’ requirements and further develop our business,” says Dirk Gemmer, the Managing Director of Rhenus Transport, explaining the latest development. “We’re absolutely delighted that our four French chartering agencies and port operating sites will be strengthening their position in this network,” says Jean-Marc Thomas, the Managing Director of Rhenus PartnerShip France, adding his comments.
