Press Release

Rhenus High Tech and Rhenus Home Delivery open a joint hub in Niederaula

Rhenus High Tech, the logistics specialist in providing technical value added, and Rhenus Home Delivery, the specialist for making deliveries to final customers, opened their joint central warehouse in Niederaula in the state of Hesse on 20 January 2022. The logistics complex represents a significant expansion of the network for B2B and final customer deliveries and will be used by both units.

Now that the structure has been completed, the two companies have access to 14,000 square metres of storage space and another 1,500 square metres of modern office accommodation. The site strengthens and expands the German network of routes used by Rhenus High Tech and makes a contribution to integrating more of Rhenus Home Delivery’s customers. The fact that the two companies will be using the hub together will accelerate the convergence of the two networks; it will also open up development potential, which will make it possible to adapt to the needs of ordering parties and final customers in an even better way.

The Niederaula hub will handle both technically sophisticated high-tech products as well as furniture and white goods. Its central location at the heart of Germany and its connections with the A4, A5 and A7 motorways make it possible to supply goods to customers from the new central hub in the best possible way.

“The new site in Niederaula is an important pillar in the growth course that we’re seeking at Rhenus Home Delivery for our 2-person handling services and it also makes it easier for us to launch market operations for 1-person handling. The hub ensures that Rhenus High Tech can deliver its goods within 24-48 hours too,” says Ronny Sassen, the Managing Director of Rhenus Home Delivery. Both Rhenus Home Delivery and Rhenus High Tech can rely on several departures per day at Niederaula.

The new business site in Niederaula replaces Rhenus High Tech’s previous branch in Kirchheim, which will be closed during the spring. The complex in Niederaula will include a training academy, which is set to be built by the summer of 2022 during a second building phase. This will make it possible to provide further training for several hundred employees every year. “The driver teams will also be given basic training in assembly activities in the module training courses. This is necessary so that we stay up to date and can guarantee that we handle the technically sophisticated goods with the correct high quality levels,” says Franz Kronschnabl, the Managing Director of Rhenus High Tech, emphasising the importance of the new site.
