Podcast Episode 9: Battery Life Cycle Management

Vehicles with an internal combustion engine are due to be replaced by environmentally-friendly and emission-free alternatives by 2035 at the latest – the Environment Ministers of the European Union adopted this resolution in the summer of 2022. Cars with an electric drivetrain in particular have become increasing popular during the last few years and the numbers of new registrations are on the rise. These developments and the use of lithium-ion batteries involve enormous changes for the automotive and logistics sectors.

Florican Karlstedt, Project Manager at Rhenus Automotive, talks about the opportunities and challenges posed by using batteries in electrically-powered vehicles in the new episode of ‘Logistics People Talk’, the Rhenus Group’s corporate podcast. He explains the difference between a battery’s different stages of life, what is known as battery life cycle management. He also reveals how consumers’ behaviour affects the service life of a battery, why batteries should not be fully discharged and why repairing batteries is one of the greatest challenges for the automotive and logistics sectors at the moment.
