Rhenus Warehousing Solutions expands its network: Frankfurt South logistics centre comes online

The third-party logistics specialist Rhenus Warehousing Solutions will be offering even greater services in Europe this year by opening four major multi-user logistics centres. The new Frankfurt South logistics centre marks the start of this process; it launched operations in February. Rhenus Warehousing Solutions now provides extensive warehousing and value-added services for regional and international customers at covered storage space measuring 40,000 square metres. The Frankfurt hub offers ideal conditions for this because of its central location and excellent network connections.

The centre, which is located at Rodgau Logistics Park, complements the existing facilities offered by Rhenus in the Rhine/Main region because of the huge demand for storage space. “We’ve extended our capacity, taking into account the continuing increase in the need for outsourcing solutions. We opened a facility in the Greater Frankfurt area back in 2012 and can now offer more storage space for trading and industrial companies,” says Christian Mahler, a member of the management team at Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Deutschland.

The technical conditions for storing goods at set temperatures – e.g. for customers in the pharmaceutical sector – have been created at the Frankfurt South logistics centre too. The latest technology and optimised processes also enable the company to cater for sophisticated requirements in the e-commerce sector at the new business site.

“The new facility is an important step in expanding our network of business sites for third-party logistics services in Europe. We expanded our services for customers in North Germany at the end of last year by opening a logistics centre in the Greater Hamburg area,” says Christian Mahler. “We can currently use 30,000 square metres of space there and we’ll have expanded this by an additional 20,000 square metres by 2017.”

The Rhenus Group also expanded its warehousing space at Gretz-Armainvilliers in France to a total figure of 30,000 square metres last year. Since that time, this facility has provided storage space for lubricants.

The company is planning to open three other logistics centres in addition to Frankfurt South during 2016. New centres are already under construction in Germany (Duisburg), in Poland and in the Netherlands. The expansion of the Rhenus Warehousing Solutions network reflects growth in the multi-channel trading sector and the increase in demand for high-end industrial warehouse logistics projects in Europe.
