The new structure is designed to provide 20,000 square metres of storage space. Once the current building project has been completed, which takes into account technical opportunities to reduce CO2 emissions, it will mainly store furniture from a leading dealer in this field.
“We’re expanding our current storage capacity of 30,000 square metres at our Hoppegarten business site because of the huge demand on the part of our customers for further options to store products for the retail sector,” says Friedrich Christ, Managing Director of Rhenus Home Delivery, giving the reason for this decision.
The items stored at Hoppegarten, which not only include furniture items, but also white and brown goods like refrigerators, washing machines, televisions and large sports items, are supplied to final customers in the Berlin/Brandenburg region. The company not only delivers the items, but also installs furniture, connects up electronic equipment and disposes of packaging materials and old equipment, if customers require these services.
Hoppegarten has been home to the central warehouse and scheduling department at Rhenus Home Delivery since 1992. The company manages consignments handled by all the German branches of the Rhenus subsidiary across Germany from the control centre there.
