Rhenus takes over the services provided by Deutsche Aktenvernichtung

The Rhenus Group took over the business activities provided by Deutsche Aktenvernichtung DAV GmbH at the start of the new year. The company’s core business managed up to now by the brother and sister, Jörg Graf von Hardenberg and Marina Sachtleben, involved the certified destruction of files and data storage media. The previous concept and the independence of the company, which has its headquarters in Tangstedt near Hamburg, are set to be retained through the takeover.

DAV has specialised in destroying and archiving files, data storage media and hard drives in line with data protection regulations for more than 28 years. Rhenus had already been one of DAV’s partners since 2020 and has been supporting DAV in providing services for customers according to the data protection laws.

Rhenus itself can also look back on many years of experience in matters related to the destruction of files and data storage media. Its fifteen own high-security sites in Germany provide a broad spectrum of services; Rhenus offers customers a great deal of value added, ranging from the classic destruction in line with data protection regulations to overall disposal concepts, reverse logistics and even IT remarketing. “Our success is based on skilled and reliable employees as well as continually modernising our practices with an eye to the future – we’re therefore delighted to be able to take over DAV’s personnel and assets so that we can continue to offer the familiar high service quality and therefore justify the trust placed in us by our customers,” says Michael Wiegmann, the Managing Director of Rhenus Office Services, the specialist company for destruction operations.

Extensive stocks of files are being stored at physical archiving facilities at several sites in Germany. Rhenus Archive Services will also continue managing this business at the Group’s high-security archives. “Because we’re a document and information logistics specialist with business activities across Europe, we can meet

the highest data protection legal standards for all document and information processes, whether this involves operating a post room, digitalisation, automation via robotic process automation, archiving or the ultimate destruction of items,” says Jens Kumbrink, the Managing Director of the company responsible for document and information logistics, Rhenus Office Systems. All the archives are certified in line with ISO 27001 for data and information security. “As a result, we’ll continue to offer customers the highest possible standards when it comes to data protection.”

Jörg Graf von Hardenberg and Marina Sachtleben would like to focus more on their existing business of leasing commercial property in future. They are aiming to purchase more properties during the next few years. “We’ve already been working with Rhenus very closely and successfully for several years. So it wasn’t hard for us to make our decision,” says Jörg Graf von Hardenberg. Marina Sachtleben is also confident. “By handing over all DAV’s business activities to Rhenus, we’re placing the company in experienced hands. That was very important to us in order to safeguard all the jobs. Rhenus is able to handle all the services in the field of document and information management, ranging from archiving to digitalisation and even the destruction of an extremely wide range of types of files.”
