The workshop, entitled ‘Competitive advantages through socially, economically and ecologically sustainable action’, included a brainstorming session and design-thinking methods in addition to an exchange of ideas and know-how. As a result, joint perspectives on initiatives within the logistics sector were presented. The group and Rhenus identified approaches for implementing various sustainable solutions along the supply chain.
The Rhenus representatives included board member Karsten Obert and Isa Kohn, Head of Sustainability in the Rhenus Group. The experts presented the current methods and projects for sustainable solutions in the Rhenus network and in the various units. This included scopes for action to achieve climate and sustainability goals, certifications and projects such as RheGreen, RHE-X, e-trucking, alternative drives for inland navigation and sustainable warehouses in order to minimise the carbon footprint.
Karsten Obert summarised the visit: ‘The workshop revealed that there is a lot of potential for the further development of innovative solutions. Logistics4Future and Rhenus have a lot in common – we are creating the future of our industry and are doing so with a real passion for sustainable logistics.’ Isa Kohn added: ‘It was very helpful to share our sustainable initiatives with the young members of the Logistics4Future focus group and to receive their independent opinions and feedback. We hope to welcome them back soon and continue our mutual exchange.’
