Rhenus Revival, the specialist for transportation and logistics services in the countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union, has been providing storage capacities for Sony at its warehouse in Kiev since the beginning of September 2011.
Rhenus Revival has been operating a multi-user warehouse measuring 10,000 square meters in Stoyanka in the Kiev District and handles companies’ products, which include items from the FMCG sector. Sony high-value goods are now kept in a separate area and are monitored by video round the clock. The warehouse, which is equipped with a high-security personnel access system, meets the highest security standards in order to protect the high-value goods.
“Rhenus convinced us during the selection phase that it adopts high standards for handling quality electronics items with its flexible and secure warehouse concept. The short start-up phase proves the professional handling capabilities and endorses our decision,” said Svetlana Papushina, Deputy General Manager of Sony Ukraine LLC, Finance and Operations.
“We’re proud to be able to extend our present services for Sony – i.e. importing goods from Europe to Russia – to the warehouse logistics operations in Ukraine,” says Uwe Oemmelen, Member of the Rhenus Board. By including the warehouse space in Kiev, it has been possible to optimize logistics processes. “With our expertise, we are ensuring that the goods reach their destination even more efficiently,” Uwe Oemmelen adds.
The customer also benefits from Rhenus Revival’s many years of experience as a customs broker specialist. After customs duty has been paid, the consignments are handed over to domestic distribution corporations. In an ideal case, Ukrainian wholesalers are able to gain access to orders on the very same day. In addition to the customs clearance, the logistics services provider also makes available value added services like labelling and kitting at its Kiev business location.
The takeover of warehousing operations for Sony fully reflects the growth course being pursued by Rhenus Revival in Ukraine. The Rhenus subsidiary currently operates approx. 46,700 square meters of warehousing space at four different business sites and is therefore one of the leading logistics partners in the country.
