LNG truck drives for Rhenus Warehousing Solutions in Hamburg-Harburg

Since 22 March 2021, Rhenus Warehousing Solutions has been using a truck powered by liquefied natural gas in Hamburg-Harburg to carry out shuttle transports of lubricants between the production facility and the storage site operated in Neu Wulmstorf. The LNG truck offers a noise reduction of 50 per cent and a CO2 saving of eleven per cent.

The shuttle transport, which includes several tours daily, has also been extended for two more years. The warehouse in Neu Wulmstorf stores the lubricants in units of one to 200 litres and specialises in the storage and handling of hazardous substances and sensitive goods. The multi-user warehouse has 52,500 square meters of storage space with appropriate protection systems such as a foam sprinkler system as well as the latest fire protection precautions, this enables the storage of goods in WGK 1-3. In addition, the site is a hazardous incident operation according to BImSchV and has numerous certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 45001 and AEO.

"The high standard in service quality in the sensitive area of lubricant production has paid off," says Jens Ordelheide, International Key Account Manager at Rhenus Warehousing Solutions. "We are continuing to work with our customer in a spirit of trust and are striving together to achieve climate neutrality for our service in the long term."
