Home Delivery

Delivery to point of use is our DNA.
But special times require special measures. After careful consideration, our management took the decision to adapt the services provided by Rhenus Home Delivery in Germany.
Amongst others, these measures were necessary to protect the customers, our employees as well as the general public. It is our joint responsibility to do our utmost to help slow down the spread of the Coronavirus. Already since March 18th, we commit ourselves to social distancing and zero contact deliveries. Shipments are delivered to the residential door, our teams do not enter the private rooms and customer signatures are not mandatory.
We are convinced that the measures taken ensure that we can continue, as best as possible, to fulfil the customers’ needs – today and in the future. At this point, we would like to thank our clients and their customers for their understanding and support.

However, the greatest thanks go to our employees! It is you who keep the business running despite the difficult circumstances. Thanks for patiently explaining the situation to customers and answering their questions, thanks for keeping the warehouse running whilst many others work from home and last but not least our thanks to the delivery teams for hitting the road and delivering the shipments every day!

High Tech

Update 23.03.2020

Dear customers,

As Rhenus High Tech, we monitor the situation surrounding the Coronavirus very closely and have implemented far-reaching measures to protect our sites and our employees in particular.

In addition, we reassess the situation on a daily basis and, if necessary, will adjust or extend the measures accordingly.

Unfortunately, the situation regarding the spread of the Cornoavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the resulting restrictions in Europe has worsened considerably in recent days.

We ourselves are still organised in such a way that we are able to maintain operations. The restrictions, however, can lead relatively quickly to the situation in the individual European countries more tense.

Since the beginning of last week, we have clearly felt that our customers' efforts to remain able to deliver are increasing. However, due to the far-reaching measures taken by the government and the authorities, the availability and the possibilities of successfully delivering shipments to the recipients as planned and intended are decreasing at the same pace.

As logistics partners, we cannot escape this development, nor can we ignore it. We, too, are now forced to counter this development quickly and, in some cases, with equally drastic measures. We will therefore proceed as follows:

As Rhenus High Tech, we will be implementing the following from 23 March 2020 until further notice:

  • In week 13 we will maintain the regular operation of our network activities and regional distribution (Monday to Thursday) for 4 days in order to allow for planning. (No operation on Friday).
  • From week 14 onwards, we will continue to maintain the regular operation of our network activities and regional distribution during the core week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). (No operation on Monday and Friday).
  • During the next few weeks we will not be able to promise any fixed dates and delivery times to peripheral areas are also likely to be extended.
  • Furthermore, we have been unable to achieve SLA / KPI targets for several days now for reasons beyond our control as Rhenus High Tech and have had to suspend them until further notice.

In this way, we will ensure that our customers can rely on us as Rhenus High Tech to provide basic services for you and your customers in the field of technical value-added logistics. However, as a precautionary measure, we would like to point out that we reserve the right to make further adjustments depending on further developments, which we are following closely.

In view of the above, we are also actively seeking your assistance:

  • Please make sure that the recipient has opened the package and that the acceptance of the goods is secured before sending your delivery. In order to efficiently use the available resources to maintain the supply chain, we handle our transport and storage capacities with care. That is why we are now organising repatriation or temporary storage for undeliverable shipments. We have to pass on the resulting costs to the shipper.
  • Do not assume that every driver carries disposable gloves in unlimited quantities or face masks. In the event that drivers are instructed to wear appropriate protective equipment when entering or leaving your premises or those of your consignees, please have appropriate protective equipment available for the drivers. This is the only way we can achieve the best possible loading space and avoid dead freight.
  • Scheduled mailings: Please coordinate very sensitive deadlines with our order acceptance in individual cases.

Our measures

  • Increase of the hygiene standards in our buildings
  • Informing our staff about the recommendations and prevention measures of the authorities and the WHO
  • In addition, we have arranged our employees to work in the "home office" wherever possible and feasible
  • A Citrix environment for extended, location-independent access to our operational systems was implemented
  • Internal / external meetings are replaced by Skype calls wherever possible.
  • Wherever possible in coordination with customers and suppliers, we replace business trips with virtual meetings.

Operationally, we strive for the following joint actions/guidelines in consultation with our customers:

  • As part of our compliance policy, we respect and follow the guidelines submitted by local / regional governments (compliance). Rhenus High Tech's dispatching department keeps an eye on these local guidelines so that it can react to changes at any time.
  • Orders that are intended for "no-go areas" will not be processed further.
  • Orders that are already on their way to "no-go areas" are sent back to the nearest depot.
  • A separation of the volumes according to 1 and/or 2 man crew is constantly checked and the tours are planned accordingly (risk reduction in the infection of our driving personnel)
  • Our logistics processes, especially in the incoming and outgoing goods area, are currently running smoothly
  • Our order processing department will continue to accept your orders
  • We have communicated separately our operational action plan, which will apply from 23 March 2020.

Port Logistics

Dear customers,

The operations and companies of Rhenus Port Logistics comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries in which we operate.

Our locations are still open, the transport units by truck, rail, inland waterway and ocean-going vessel are fully operational, which enables us to continue working on the implementation of our customer orders within the current conditions.

To protect our employees, suppliers and deliverers - by rail, ship and truck - additional location-specific preventive measures are implemented.

The ports and thus the shipping traffic are part of the critical infrastructure, the functionality of which must be guaranteed. We are therefore able to provide our customers with alternative transport solutions and ensure the timely delivery of goods multimodally.
